Privacy Policy

Munchkin recognizes the importance of the privacy of our customers and users. This Privacy Policy applies to our website located at www.safefit.com, our mobile apps, and other websites and apps that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively “Website”), regardless of how you use or access them.

This Privacy Policy explains why we gather information from you, what information we collect, how we collect it, what we use the information for and how to contact us about use of that information. This Privacy Policy, along with our Terms of Use, governs your use of our Website.

In this Policy, we refer to “Personal Information,” which is data about an individual who can be identified from that data, or by combining it with other data. Personal Information is usually your name in combination with another identifier, such as date of birth, postal address, email address, telephone number, or government-issued identification number. Personal Information does not include anonymous or aggregated data that can no longer be used to identify a specific person, even if combined with other data. The specific definition of Personal Information varies from one jurisdiction to another.

Why do we gather information?

Since our inception, Munchkin has consistently provided quality goods and services, excellent customer service, access to useful information, and a pleasant interactive experience to our customers.

We gather information from you so we can communicate with you, process your orders, enhance and customize your shopping experience, and inform you of special offers and discounts for products and services we believe you might find of interest. We also gather it to administer promotions, surveys, contests and sweepstakes in which you might participate.

We also use the information automatically collected about you during your use of the Website to improve the effectiveness of our Websites, operations, mobile experience, or marketing efforts, to prevent fraud and theft, and otherwise to protect visitors to our Website and business.

What information do we collect directly from you?

When you make a purchase, we collect your name, address, delivery name and address, email address and phone number. We keep this information through delivery and for an additional period to respond to any inquiries from you.

For purchases on our Website, our payment processing vendor collects your credit card information or payment account information. This data is maintained for a period after the purchase to process refunds and respond to your inquiries.

When you register an account with us, we collect your first and last name, email address, and password. When you make a purchase, we keep the product information for as long as your account is active.

In the address book for your account, you may enter the contact information of friends or family for whom you wish to receive gift reminders or to whom you send gifts. You are the only one who may edit your address book.

If you subscribe to our emails, we will collect your name, email address and your child’s birthday, so we can let you know about products of interest to you and your child, as well as special deals and birthday wishes. When you click on a link in our emails to you, we track that click-through data. You may unsubscribe from these emails by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in them, or contacting us at privatepolicy@munchkin.com or 1-800-344-BABY (2229).

When you enter any of our contests, sweepstakes or promotions, we collect your name and email address and other information, depending on the event. We use this information to confirm your identity and communicate with you about the event, and retain it for the duration of the event plus an additional period to respond to queries, if any.

If you have the opportunity to submit product reviews or pose product questions on our Site, we may collect your name, email address, the content of any of your posts, as well as any other User Submissions (as defined in the Terms of Use). We reserve the right to remove such submissions, as well as comments posted on our blog, which is maintained by Disqus.

When you contact us with question or concerns, we collect your name, your email address, the subject of your inquiry, and information about any questions or concerns you raise with us.

We retain Personal Information collected directly from you to comply with law, meet professional obligations, prevent fraud, collect any fees owed, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, assist with an investigation, enforce our Terms and Conditions and take other actions permitted or required by applicable law.

What information is automatically collected from our Website visitors?

When you visit our Website, certain non-personal information is collected, such as IP address, device ID, browser setting, operating system, referring domain, language preferences, mobile carrier, website activity and cookies.

A “cookie” is a small file stored on your computer by a website which gives you a numeric user ID and stores certain information about your activity on the website. Some cookies only last for the session you are on the Website. Other cookies persist beyond that session, so, for example, you do not have to reenter contact information or items in your cart. We use cookies to transact with you, gather navigation information, enhance and personalize your experience, analyze usage patterns, and improve our Website, products and services.

Our cookies generally fall into one of four categories: Essential, Functional, Analytics and Target.

Essential Cookies are necessary to provide you with products and services available through our Website. If you refuse them, it will impact your ability to access some of the Website’s functions and features.

Performance Cookies help us enhance the performance and functionality of our Website, products and service, but are not necessary for your use. Still, certain functions or features may become unavailable if you refuse them.

Analytics Cookies collect information that is used to help us understand the use of our Website, products and services, the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, or to help us customize our Website to enhance your experience.

Target Cookies record your visit to our Website, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed, so we can recognize you as a prior visitor and track your activity on our Website and others you visit. These Cookies remain on your device for us to use during a next visit to our Website. In contrast to these “persistent” cookies, some cookies (“session cookies”) are deleted when your browsing session has ended.

We also allow third parties to use Cookies on our Website to collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites you visit. This information is used to provide advertising tailored to your interests on websites you visit, also known as interest-based advertising, and to analyze the effectiveness of such advertising.

Most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. You can set your browser to decline all cookies automatically or to prompt you for a response each time a cookie is offered. If you decline cookies, you may find that you cannot access all our Website’s features. Opt-outs are device- and browser-specific and may not work in all instances.

To learn more about the use of Cookies by Google for analytics and to exercise choice regarding those Cookies, please visit the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or the Digital Advertising Alliance.

There are “do not track” or similar browser choices available to internet users with respect to online web activity, but given the present lack of consensus of what constitutes an informed election, appropriate trigger or breadth of scope of such choice, our Website will not operate any differently when a “do not track” signal is received.

With whom do we share the information we collect?

Our employees and agents may view your Personal Information to perform their jobs and service your needs. We authorize their access to your Personal Information on a need-to-know basis to provide you with our products or services, or for one of the other reasons listed in this Privacy Policy.

We share your information with our Affiliates, and with vendors and agents acting on our behalf as described in this Privacy Policy in compliance with these terms. “Affiliates” are those persons or entities directly or indirectly controlling, controlled by, or under common control with the Company.

We may sell, transfer and/or disclose your Personal Information as part of a business divestiture, sale, merger, or acquisition of all or a part of our business. If another company acquires our company, business, or assets, that company will possess the Personal Information collected by us and will assume the rights and obligations regarding your Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy. In the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership, your Personal Information may also be transferred as a business asset.

We may release your Personal Information to others (including law enforcement) if we believe such release is reasonably necessary (i) to comply with a government or law enforcement request or judicial process; (ii) to operate this Website; (iii) to process any orders or registrations; (iv) to conduct any promotions, contests, or sweepstakes in which you participate; or (v) to protect the rights or property of the Company, its Affiliates, users, customers, recipients, Sponsors, Providers, Licensors, or Merchants (as such terms are defined in our Terms and Conditions).

In addition, we may share aggregate, non-individual information, incapable of identifying a particular person, with third parties for lawful purposes.

Data Movement

Munchkin may maintain the Personal Information it collects from you on computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other government jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those from your jurisdiction. We transfer Personal Information to the United States only with your consent or to perform a contract with you, and consistent with the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
